Lindsey Binstock
Let me introduce myself
Hi! I'm Lindsey, I live in Arlington, Virginia and I am the Camp Expert for families in the Mid-Atlantic area (Virginia, DC, Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina and other surrounding areas)!
My first bunk
I spent 13 summers at camp! I started attending at 8 years old and unfortunately my first camp in the Adirondacks closed after 4 amazing summers but with the help of a camp expert I found my new summer home... Camp Towanda. I was there as a camper, waitress, counselor, and even continued returning for a week every summer when that was all my full time job would allow! Camp is my favorite place in the world and there is no where I would rather be.
From camper to camp expert
I was previously a criminal prosecutor but after 10 years of wearing a suit in the courtroom I decided to trade in my heels for crocs and return to my first love, camp. Having a family tell me that we found the perfect camp for their child is the best feeling.
Ultimate camp highlight
My favorite part of camp was always Olympics (color war)! I am not going to lie - I always have a preference for the red team! I couldn't tell you which years I won or lost but can remember all the songs for sing.
Why I love this job
Camp is a magical place and I want everyone to have the same wonderful experience at camp that I did.
My home bunk
I have two kids who both love camp as much as I did! They live 10 for 2 and count the days until they get on the bus. My husband (who also attended camp and went on teen tours) jokes that we should own a camp so we can live there year round, but why settle for just one camp when I can spend my summer visiting many camps!
Why I feel camp is a valuable experience
Camp gives kids the independence they need within a structured environment. They learn to make decisions for themselves while trying new things and meeting new people. The relationships formed at camp are like no other. It also gives them a much needed break from screens!
