Let me introduce myself

Hi! I'm Lindsey, Head of Camp Life at Camp Experts. I live in Cooper City, Florida. I started here as an advisor working with families across South Florida, and now I spend my time on the other side of the equation: our camps, our partners, and the fifty advisors who work with families every day.

My first bunk

I spent five summers as a kid tucked away in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and I count myself so lucky to have had that time away from home. Camp was the place where I truly found out who I was — it gave me the freedom to be my authentic self in a way nothing else did. From there I went on to do a teen tour (shout out to Westcoast Connection!), and then came back to the mountains for two summers as a counselor. Blue Star, I love you forever.

From camper to camp expert

I've been in the HR world since I graduated college, and becoming a Camp Expert ended up feeling like the most natural next step. So many of the skills I built in HR — listening closely, understanding what people really need, matching the right fit to the right person — translate directly into "camp talk." It's the perfect way to bring two of my passions together.

Ultimate camp highlight

I could never pick just one! But if I had to point to something special, it's this: I'm still best friends with the girls I met at camp over 25 years ago. I think that says everything about what it means to be a "camp kid" ... IYKYK. A few years back I stood by my camp best friend's side as her Maid of Honor, swapping stories from when we were kids on her wedding day. Pretty awesome, right?

Why I love this job

I LOVE this job!!!! I don't think anyone could be more obsessed with what they do than I am. I get to talk about camp all day, every day, and if you're a camp person, you already know how special that is. But truly, the best part is getting to meet so many incredible families and help them find the perfect place for their kids.

My home bunk

My home bunk — or what I like to call our zoo — includes my husband and our three beautiful children. They're still youngin's, not quite camp age yet, but the second they're old enough, they'll be there. No question about it.

Why I feel camp is a valuable experience

Camp gives kids the chance to spread their wings. It's a social detox — no cell phones, no constant pull from the outside world — just real connection. And maybe most importantly, kids get to make their own decisions without Mom and Dad stepping in. That independence is where so much of the growth happens.
