I went to different summer camps in Spain, and each one was an amazing experience. I made wonderful friends from all over the country. I’ve also been part of Camp Stevens in San Diego, California — an experience that deepened my passion for summer camps and their incredible impact on children.

My home bunk

My husband and I have two young children—not quite camp age (yet!). They’re already learning the songs and cheers, and can’t wait to be campers themselves! Speaking of my husband, he wasn’t much of a camp kid growing up, but he understands what an important part of my life it is now. I even had my bachelorette party at camp, and my camp friends performed a choreographed song and cheer for our rehearsal dinner (in sitting, kneeling, standing formation.

Why I feel camp is a valuable experience

Summer camp is a fantastic experience for kids because it helps them build independence and confidence by learning to take care of themselves away from home. It also fosters social skills through making new friends and working in teams, while encouraging outdoor activity and a healthy lifestyle. Camps challenge children to try new things, develop resilience, and discover hidden talents, all of which contribute to their personal growth. For those attending international camps, it’s a great way to improve their English in a natural setting. Beyond that, summer camps create lasting memories and teach important values like teamwork and leadership.
