Let me introduce myself

I'm Ashley, your Camp Expert representing families in Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, and surrounding areas.

My first bunk

I went to camp for 10 summers (switched camps after my first summer-best decision ever!), and Camp Agawak is absolutely my favorite place on earth. My camp friends are my forever best friends!

From camper to camp expert

In addition to being a Camp Expert, I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist. I have worked with children from preschool to 12th grade in both private and public schools. This gives me a unique understanding of the needs of all children—something that has proven to be invaluable when helping families with camp! Fun fact: I was also the director of a day camp!

My favorite camp activity is color war—especially Blue & White Treasure Hunt. I seriously bleed BLUE! 💙

Why I love this job

Helping families find that “camp magic” is by far the best part of being a Camp Expert!! Getting to talk about camp 24/7 is also a pretty awesome perk of the job!!

My home bunk

My husband and I have two young children-not quite camp age (yet!). They are already learning the songs and cheers, and can't wait to be campers themselves! Speaking of my husband, he wasn't such a camp guy growing up, but understands what an important part of my life it is. Besides having my bachelorette party at camp, my camp friends performed a choreographed song and cheer for our rehearsal dinner (in sitting, kneeling, standing formation, obviously!).

Why I feel camp is a valuable experience

There is nothing I believe in more than the power of camp. It is a home away from home, a safe space for kids to be themselves away from the pressures of "real life". It is a place for kids to unplug, try new things. and foster relationships that will last a lifetime. Camp teaches kids who they are and who they want to be in the future. At the right camp, kids can be the best, most authentic versions of themselves. Camp is truly the most special place on earth.
