Let me introduce myself

I'm Jamie Altman, your Camp Expert for Families in Colorado and the Mountain States.

My first bunk

I spent 6 incredible summers at Camp Blue Star. (It was the best decision ever!) Camp was my favorite place on earth. My camp friends are some my best friends. They know me in a way no other friends know me, and they are always there for me.  Fun fact-- my daughter's best friend in preschool was the daughter of one of my counselors.

From camper to camp expert

My previous career was in the luxury sector. I used camp as a jumping off point to get to know my clients. By finding out where they went or where they sent their kids gave us some common ground and introduced me to a lot of camps. I used to research different camps for friends to help them, when I sought out the camp experts. I love finding the right program for a child!

Ultimate camp highlight

My all time favorite camp activity either Song Fest or after meal cheers! You can still find me singing songs to Lisa Loeb, Bryan Adams, or styx.  and  of course you can find me singing camp cheers at the top of my lungs.

Why I love this job

I loved camp. I chose my college because it reminded me of camp. I want every family and every kiddo to capture the magic that you can only find at camp.

Why I feel camp is a valuable experience

Camp encouraged me to try new things, to step out of my comfort zone and take risks. Camp taught me so much about myself, and gave me a sense of independence, while I was in a safe space.
